TAQYID links suppliers, raw materials, production batches and the customers each batch was distributed to. MHMS 2020 defines traceability as the ability to identify and trace raw materials and products at every stage — receipt, processing, storage and distribution — and makes it one of the minimum controls under IHCS. Trace a batch back to its suppliers and forward to its customers: each batch keeps, for every raw material used, its supplier and the certificate in force when it was used; specification documents attach to the raw material. A raw material whose certificate expires is flagged automatically, and a batch that used a material not validated halal cannot be released. A batch can be placed in quarantine.
