Halal Compliance
Last updated: 16 April 2026
Taqyid is committed to respecting Sharia principles in the design, development, and commercialization of its platform. This page explains how we comply with Islamic standards and the requirements of halal certification bodies, including JAKIM (Malaysia) and relevant authorities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Where our platform is used by organisations subject to the Indonesian Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP No. 27/2022), we ensure that personal data handling aligns with its requirements in addition to GDPR and Malaysian PDPA.
1. Sharia-compliant business model
1.1 Ijārah (Service rental)
Taqyid operates according to the principle of ijārah, i.e. the rental of a service. Customers pay a monthly or yearly subscription to access the platform, with no element of riba (interest) or gharar (excessive uncertainty).
1.2 Prohibited elements respected
- No riba: no interest is charged in case of late payment
- No gharar: clear and transparent pricing, with no hidden fees
- No maysir: no speculation or gambling elements
1.3 Pricing transparency
All prices are communicated clearly before any commitment. Pricing conditions can be consulted at any time and contain no abusive clauses.
2. Compliance with JAKIM standards
2.1 MHMS 2020 (Malaysian Halal Management System)
Taqyid is designed to support compliance with MHMS 2020, in particular:
- Management of the Halal Assurance System (HAS)
- Implementation of the Internal Halal Control System (IHCS)
- Monitoring of the Jawatankuasa Halal Dalaman (JKHD)
- Identification of Halal Control Points (HCP)
- End-to-end supply chain traceability
- Management of internal audits in line with JAKIM requirements
The audit checklists, compliance templates, and process workflows available within Taqyid are proprietary tools developed by our team based on the publicly available requirements of MHMS 2020 and MPPHM. They are designed to assist your internal preparation and compliance management. They are not official JAKIM documents and should not be treated as substitutes for the official requirements, guidelines, or forms published by JAKIM or DSM.
2.2 MPPHM (Manual Prosedur Pensijilan Halal Malaysia)
The platform follows MPPHM procedures for managing Halal certificates, renewal, suspension, and revocation according to official protocols.
The platform is continuously updated to reflect the latest amendments to MPPHM, including the Pindaan 2026 (amendments effective from 1 April 2026). These amendments introduce updated procedures for halal certificate application, renewal timelines, compliance documentation requirements, and Halal Assurance System (HAS) governance. Taqyid's audit checklists, document templates, and compliance workflows have been reviewed and adjusted to align with the revised procedures.
2.3 What we mean by "JAKIM-ready"
When we describe Taqyid as "JAKIM-ready," we mean that the platform is designed to help you organise, track, and manage the documentation, processes, and checklists required by JAKIM's MHMS 2020 and MPPHM 2020 frameworks. It does not mean:
- That JAKIM has reviewed, tested, certified, or approved the Taqyid platform
- That your organisation will automatically achieve or maintain halal certification by using Taqyid
- That Taqyid can substitute for the judgement of your internal Halal Executive (Eksekutif Halal) or the decisions of a JAKIM auditor
Taqyid is a preparation and management tool. The responsibility for achieving compliance remains with your organisation and your designated Halal Executive.
2.4 MYeHALAL
Taqyid is designed to complement JAKIM's MYeHALAL portal by helping manufacturers prepare and organise their compliance documentation before submission through official channels.
3. Halal content and features
3.1 Compliant content
Taqyid is committed to:
- Never displaying haram (forbidden) content
- Respecting cultural and religious sensitivities
- Using appropriate and respectful terminology
- Avoiding any representation that contradicts Islamic values
3.2 Ethical features
All Taqyid features are designed to facilitate Halal compliance without compromising Islamic principles. The platform does not contain any element that could encourage non-compliant practices.
4. Handling of sensitive data
4.1 Protection of confidentiality
In line with Islamic principles of privacy and dignity ( sitr), we strictly protect the confidential data of our customers.
Halal compliance documentation managed through Taqyid — including SPHM certificates, sertu cleaning records, non-conformity reports (NCR), JKHD meeting minutes, Halal Executive appointment letters, supplier halal certificates, and raw material specifications — may contain commercially sensitive and regulatory information. We treat all such documents with the highest level of confidentiality and restrict access through our role-based access control system (RBAC) with 7 distinct roles and creator/validator segregation.
4.2 Amanah (trust)
We consider the data entrusted to us as an amanah (trust) and commit to handling it with integrity and responsibility.
5. Audit and verification
5.1 Complete audit trail
Taqyid records all critical actions (audit trail) to ensure the transparency and traceability required by Halal certification bodies.
The compliance score displayed within the Taqyid application is a proprietary internal indicator calculated by our system based on the completeness of your documentation, checklists, and processes relative to MHMS 2020 requirements. It is not an official score issued by JAKIM, JAIN, or any certification body, and should not be presented as such to auditors or regulatory authorities.
5.2 Continuous compliance
We continuously monitor the evolution of JAKIM standards and update the platform to maintain a high level of compliance.
The mock recall functionality available in Taqyid is an internal simulation exercise designed to help your organisation test its traceability and recall readiness. It is not a procedure validated, endorsed, or required by JAKIM. The results of a mock recall conducted through Taqyid should be used for internal preparedness purposes only.
6. Training and awareness
Taqyid provides training resources on JAKIM/MHMS 2020 Halal requirements to help companies understand and meet current standards.
7. Data retention for halal compliance
Halal compliance documentation generated or uploaded through Taqyid — including audit records, certificates, non-conformity reports, traceability logs, and Halal Assurance System documentation — is retained for a minimum of 3 years from the date of creation. This retention period reflects the record-keeping requirements of MHMS 2020 and the Pindaan 2026 amendments, which require that halal-certified organisations maintain compliance records for audit and inspection purposes.
Upon termination of your subscription, you may request a complete export of your compliance data within 30 days (see our Terms of Service and Data Processing Agreement for details). Audit trail entries forming part of a regulatory compliance record may be retained in an anonymised format beyond the subscription period to preserve the integrity of the chain of evidence.
8. Independence and non-affiliation
Taqyid is an independent software company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, licensed by, or approved by:
- JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia)
- JAIN (Jabatan Agama Islam Negeri)
- HDC (Halal Development Corporation)
- DSM (Department of Standards Malaysia)
- Or any other governmental, religious, or certification body
All references to MHMS 2020, MPPHM 2020, Pindaan 2026, and related standards are for informational purposes only and describe the regulatory frameworks that our platform is designed to support. Taqyid does not issue halal certifications, does not represent any certification body, and does not guarantee that use of the platform will result in the granting, renewal, or maintenance of any halal certification.
Taqyid's use of the word "Halal" in its branding and communications refers exclusively to its function as a compliance management tool for halal-certified organisations. It does not represent, imply, or certify the halal status of any product, ingredient, or process. This usage is intended to be consistent with Section 29 of the Malaysian Trade Descriptions Act 2011, which governs the commercial use of halal-related terms. We recommend that users seek independent legal advice regarding their own use of halal-related claims and certifications.
9. Commitment and responsibility
9.1 Our mission
Our mission is to make Halal compliance easier for businesses while strictly adhering to Sharia principles in our own operations.
9.2 Social responsibility
We are committed to operating ethically, transparently, and responsibly, in line with the Islamic values of justice ( ʿadl) and excellence (ihsan).
10. Certification and validation
Taqyid works closely with Halal compliance experts and JAKIM-certified consultants to ensure that the platform meets all regulatory and religious requirements. Please note that Taqyid is a compliance management tool — it is not itself a halal-certified product, nor does it issue halal certifications. Nothing on this page constitutes a fatwa or religious certification.
